Review Part 1: Tamron SP 90mm f/2.5 Macro (on MFT)

In this post I will give you a brief review on the Tamron SP 90 lens as a portraiture lens and as a macro lens when mounted on a Micro Four Thirds camera. In part 2, I will review how it performs on a full frame sensor.

P.S. Look how elegant the top plate on the E-M1 looks. Now compare that to the bland Sony A7II I showed you earlier.

Olympus Stylus 1 Adapter Tube and Macro Conversion Lens

In this post, I'd like to discuss two accessories for the Olympus Stylus 1 (reviewed here): a clone of the CLA-13 adapter tube and a macro conversion lens.

CLA-13 Adapter Tube Clone

The Stylus 1 lens doesn't have threads for filters or other accessories.  However, it does have a threaded mount on the body, to which the supplied lens cap is attached.  You can also screw accessories onto the body mount, but because the lens protrudes during use, you need to have a tube to effectively extend the body mount out to the same length as the lens.  Olympus has two such adapter tubes: the CLA-13 for use with the TCON-17X teleconverter, and the CLA-14, for use with the WCON-08X wide angle converter.

Vintage Mercedes Sewing Machine

Today I want to show you a few pictures for a vintage sewing machine that was gifted to my wife. I was fascinated when I saw this machine, with all the beautiful artwork and colors, that I quickly decided to shoot a few quality pictures. My online search for such machine returned very few results, with mediocre quality pictures at best. It also looks more like a piece of artwork than the other industrial-looking sewing machines. Freezing Time With Flash

What you see above is the result of a lot of spare time. Almost every year, me, my brother, my cousin and my cousin's cousin gather in a deserted flat in the countryside for two days, for no other purpose but to spend some "male" time together, and do a lot of photography. Let me take you behind the scenes.

The Dead Gecko

Remember my recent Abstracts post? It was during the same day that me and my friend found a dead gecko on the bathroom floor. It was tiny, but it presented a good photographic opportunity and allowed us to occupy some of the long free boring time we had on hand, hit the jump for the full story.

Macro Fun @ Home

I have been sick for a few days now, and I had to spend the weekend at home, so yesterday I decided to have some quick macro fun, I didn't expect to get great pictures, but the purpose was to have fun and to experiment with some of my less used equipment.

Food Photography Assignment

I was asked by one of my friends to shoot a couple of dishes for his cousin's restaurant, and since I wanted to experiment with shooting food, I readily agreed. Click through for the details.

Macro Talk: Canon EF-S 60mm f/2.8 Macro USM

What is a macro lens? What if my zoom lens has a "Macro" designation, are they the same?

Today I am going to chat a little about my experience with a macro lens, and what other situations it can be used for. This is not going to be a macro photography tutorial, but more of a chit chat about macro lenses regardless of the brand. Hit the jump for more.

Tutorial: Cheap Light Box - Great Results

Hello again,

Today we are going to talk about making a very simple and cheap light box to get some good and quick product shots, I am going to go through the lighting steps I took to reach the final photo you see above. I used the same setup to make the photos for my Canon Lenses Chat series of articles.
