I've ruined a number of shots by having a drinking straw or a flower seem to poke a subject's face or nose. It's fairly easy to avoid them when taking a shot of a single person but when there are several people in the shot, it's easy for me to miss the evil drinking straw or flower. These days I simply keep in mind as a rule of thumb that if there's a straw or flower anywhere nearby, I ought to be extra mindful of straws, flowers or other objects that may be eager to climb into nostrils!
