This was a fun project, my friend which you see above showed me a portrait for a bearded man with lots of face details and wrinkles, and wanted to imitate the picture, so we gathered along with my brother and played a little with lights, hit the jump for more details.

Story & Review: Canon 5D Mark II vs Canon 60D & Canon 6D

 
It's no secret that I switched from my beloved 60D to a 5D Mark II over 8 months ago, it's also no secret that I switched to a 5D Mark III a couple of months ago, in this post I tell you about the whole story, this is not only relevant to Canon users, but to anyone considering the switch from a crop sensor to a full frame. This post is dedicated to Robin Wong, a Malaysian photographer whom I first knew about from Kirk Tuck's post about the BERISH 3.0 Malaysian Protests.
 
You see, I have traveled to Kuala Lumpur once and enjoyed my trip there immensely, and I really wish to go back there. I am also quite interested in Olympus M4/3 system, so when I saw Robin's blog, I enjoyed looking at his photos (especially the sharpness and the B&W treatment) and started back reading lots of his older posts that I missed, I have since been subscribed to his blog, and I enjoy reading everyone of his posts. WTH? Canon 60D Wireless Master Catch Lights

This is a short rant, I was taking photos today with my 60D and I decided to get familiar with the built-in popup flash acting as a wireless master to my Canon speedlites.

The setup was simple, one flash (580EX II) set on E-TTL and a shoot through umbrella camera left, the camera was set to fire the 580EX II with the popup flash output disabled, i.e. it will only act as a trigger and will not fire during the actual exposure.

To my surprise I found that all of the pictures I took had the popup flash appearing in the eyes of my subject, I double checked everything and you can see both the umbrella's and the popup flash catch lights, why does the popup flash appear in the actual exposure? It is supposed to send pre-flashes only!!!

The fix in post is really easy and only took 5 seconds per photo, but I was really pissed off, I will start searching to see if other people are facing the same issue. I faced other limitations as well with this shoot but that's for another article.

Hello, it has been a long time since my last post here, which was about my experience ordering the Canon EF 35mm f/2 as a wider angle replacement for my 50mm f/1.8. I have received the lens and I am having a great time shooting with it, so expect a review soon. I am also probably getting a Lumiquest Softbox III like the one David Hobby has. Hit the jump for more.
