I took photos at a holiday party, which happened to be at the same location where we celebrated our daughter's first birthday.
I shot with my usual cameras: a Nikon D300 with Tamron 17-50 VC and a Nikon D70 with a Sigma 50-150.
I used a combination of lighting techniques. For the shorter shots, I used bounce flash with an SB-800 in TTL mode, which performed flawlessly. For longer shots where the subject(s) would be farther, I used an Alien Bee B1600 monolight controlled by a Radiopopper JrX Studio and paired with a Lastolite Trifold shoot-through umbrella (yes, you can take candid shots with a monolight!). I powered the B1600 with a Vagabond II to get quicker recycling times.
Happy Holidays!!!
Nice shots Mic, I believe the warm color tones are intentional?
ReplyDeleteYeah I prefer warm tones for people shots. For the bounce flash shots, the flash picked up the warmth from the brown ceiling and looked fine to me as-is. For the B1600 it looked very neutral and I warmed it up in post.
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
