Several sellers have the enthusiast compact Olympus XZ-2 on sale for just $299 on eBay and Amazon. Here is DPReview's review of the XZ-2. Meanwhile the Pentax MX-1 which has the same sensor and lens and is now as low as $199 (for the black and silver version). However the XZ-2 features a tilting touchscreen, a hot shoe, and Olympus' autofocus with near-eye priority.
Fair warning: the successor to the XZ-2 (presumably the XZ-3) is rumored to have a 28-112 f/1.4-1.8 lens (i.e. 2/3 of a stop faster than the XZ-2 throughout the zoom range). However the MSRP will likely be $599, same as the XZ-2 when it was released. There is also as yet no time table for the release of the XZ-3, although it should be noted that the XZ-2 was announced Sept. 17, 2012, almost 2 years after the announcement of the XZ-1 on January 6, 2011. Therefore I would estimate that the XZ-3 would be released sometime in June of this year.
